Our chess group will resume in late September. We meet on Thursdays at 7.15pm at Wellington Church. You can find us at 77 Southpark Avenue, Glasgow G12 8LE. You can visit our website to find detailed information about the correct entrance to use to get access the library where we have our matches, and play friendly games of chess.
Glasgow Polytechnic Chess club was founded in 1919. The club’s name derives from its original meeting place, the John Anderson Royal Polytechnic, which was situated on the site now occupied by Debenhams in Argyle Street.
Next year will be our centenary. We plan to have some great events to celebrate the one hundred years of our existence - and the many triumphs that the club has achieved over this period.
