From a broken arm to end of life care, from simple play activities to innovative medical equipment and ground breaking paediatric research, our driving passion is to fund any initiative that helps to save or improve the life of a child and by association positively affect the lives of their family.
Yorkhill Children’s Charity came into being on 2 May 2013 having changes it's name from Yorkhill Children's Foundation which was established in 2001 following the incorporation of Yorkhill Sick Children’s Fund which had been in existence since 1981. The Charity owns and operates a retail shop and tea bar.
Yorkhill Childrens Charity's income is made up primarily of voluntary donations from various sources including individuals, companies and trusts. The charity is a grant making organisation and as such the majority of the annual expenditure is on charitable grants.
The fundraising income for Yorkhill Children’s Charity has grown steadily since its inception, raising £319,000 in 2001 (7 months) to £3.3 million in 2011-2012.
In April 2008 the Scottish Government gave approval to proposals from NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde for a new hospital development on the south side of Glasgow. A key element of this major project is the building of a new children’s hospital to replace the existing Royal Hospital for Sick Children currently situated at Yorkhill.
