Glasgow Music Theatre began in 2009 when the founding members couldn't find a group doing the shows they wanted to do at the standard they wanted to do them. Led by a team of arts professionals including a producer, a choreographer and a designer, GMT is now producing a standard of musical theatre not often seen on the amateur stage. Attracting the highest standard of performer, musician and technician, our productions feature some of the finest talent in Glasgow.
GMT doesn't like to be constrained by the conventions of traditional amateur theatre. We are not a club and we do not have an annual membership. Following a detailed workshop-style audition process, specifically designed to allow each person a chance to shine, a fresh company comes together for each production and no one is guaranteed a place on stage. We are never afraid to question how things are done and we tackle works which are seldom seen outside the professional stage. If there is a new approach to be found, we hope that we will be the ones to find it.
