The Friends of the River Kelvin is a Society formed in 1991 by local people who were concerned by the state of the River and who desire to improve ir.

FORK aims to heighten and extend public awareness and commitment to the care and the maintenance of the Kelvin and its tributaries.

We have fun by the River and in so doing hope to do some good. We not have monthly clean-ups on the first Saturday of the month, meeting at the Ha'penny Bridge House at 10.30a.m. FORK supplies the gloves and the bin bags.

We also have barbecues at the H.B.H. for vegetarians and meat eaters at 6p.m. for 6.30p.m. on the same days we have Clean-ups, i.e. 1st Saturday of the month, in Spring, Summer & Autumn, and the cost is £3 per head plus a bottle of wine for the drinkers. For non drinkers, bring your own pleasure. The barbies are not reserved for the Clean-Uppers. Dogs and children most welcome, or the other way round if you prefer. Non Members and guests are most welcome as long as they pay! Remember, if it is raining, we still eat inside the H.B.H. Only the cook gets wet outside!

We also plant wild flowers and trees in conjunction with the Kelvin Clyde Greenspace - see the FORK NEWS and NEWS & Events here.

2005 Gala by the H.B.H on Saturday 11th June. Charity Stalls, Punch & Judy (or similar), all day food, Live Music, Magician and much, much more including a Canadian Canoe taking people for rides (if repaired in time). Gala due to start at 11a.m. until about 4p.m.

Any enquiries to 0141 946 4542. Still space for more stalls.

We publish an excellent (this writer is not the FORK NEWS Editor!) magazine 4 times a year, free to FORKs. The Editor's name is Susan Milligan and her e-mail is: smilligan@mistra.freeserve.co.uk. We want articles and adverising. Cost of the latter is £100 per A5 page or pro-rata for less.
